A city located in west-central Iran, formerly known as Sultanabad. In the second half of the 19th century the carpet-weaving was flourishing in the surrounding towns and villages. The most famous carpets of those times were produced especially for Europe and USA, and were woven in Saruk village, which is 24 km from the city of Arak.
